James J. Johnson is a professional actor, screenwriter and playwright with experience in stage, film, television and voice-overs. He currently resides in the Washington, DC Metro Area, with his wife. J. J., as he is known to family and friends, received his B.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University, in 1997, graduating magna cum laude. He has appeared on many stages from DC to New York since 1997, and in many independent films. Besides acting, he also teaches acting with Theatre Lab in DC, and is a teaching artist with Ford's Theatre and BodyWise Dance. A fervent believer in networking and "passing it on," J. J. is a co-founder of Galvanize, a support network for Black theatre & film artists local to the DMV.
